The hiking and biking in Snowmass is so unique we have a website dedicated to each for you to use as a resource. HikeSnowmass.com and BikeSnowmass.com will help you pick and choose where you want to go based on your skill level, the type of trail you want to hike/ride and all the other essential information needed such as parking info and town maps. Events
Free events are a big part of Snowmass' character in the summer. From legendary events such as the Snowmass Balloon Festival to newer events such as the Aspen Snowmass Vintage Car Race and Snowmass Demo Days, you're sure to find an enjoyable event at no cost.
Snowmass Free Concert Series
A long-time Snowmass tradition for locals and visitors alike, the Snowmass Free Concert Series is celebrating its 27th season in 2018, playing host to 10 open-air Thursday night concerts slopeside on Fanny Hill and two bonus Saturdays (June 9 and July 21). Check out this year's schedule here.
Transportation
You don't need a car, or even an Uber, when you're in Snowmass. The Snowmass Village Shuttles provides free service to almost any location in the Village, including the Snowmass Center (grocery store), Snowmass Recreation Center, Base Village and the Snowmass Mall. Want to pop into Aspen? Free RFTA (Roaring Fork Transportation Authority) buses to Aspen depart every 30 minutes from the Snowmass Mall or Base Village. The Snowmass Village Shuttle's website helps you find your route based on where you're staying and you can find Aspen and Roaring Fork Valley bus information at RFTA.com.
Anderson Ranch
Both an international arts center and a beloved community resource, Anderson Ranch welcomes art students and art enthusiasts of all ages from beginners to leading artists of our time. Some of our favorite free events include the Visiting Artist Program, the guest faculty lectures, Lunchtime Auctionettes and the Annual Art Auction & Community Picnic. Ice Age Discovery Center Snowmass' Ice Age history is unbelievable. Did you know that Ziegler Reservoir is the largest site for mastodon fossils in the world? Over 36,000 bones and teeth belonging to 52 different animals were uncovered in the reservoir located just outside of Snowmass Village in 2010, and there is a free interactive exhibit dedicated to the discovery. Learn more at the Ice Age Discovery Center, located on the Snowmass Mall, open every day from 10am to 5pm.
Guided ACES Ice Age Hike
Adding to our unique Ice Age history, Aspen Center for Environmental Science takes guests on a guided hike of the actual site. Learn about Snowmass' huge Ice Age fossil discovery, and see where thousands of mammoth and mastodon bones were found, on a guided Ice Age Hike.
